CELEBRATE: 4 Steps to a "Sea-mless" Under the Sea Party August 16, 2016 12:15

Looking for a seasonal theme for your child’s summer birthday bash? It’s the perfect time of year to throw an ocean-themed celebration! This bright, fun theme is super versatile and works well with boys and girls of all ages.

Planning a fun and memorable birthday party can be very stressful, especially for busy moms. Fortunately, we’ve put together 4 easy steps to help you streamline the party planning process to ensure that your beach bash goes "swimmingly!"

1) Invest in a Printable DIY Decorations Set

One of the most time consuming parts of party planning that’ll really make a splash is preparing the décor. You need to be able to transform your party zone - by the pool or simply in your living room - into an underwater wonderland without too much headache!

A great way to do this is to invest in a printable DIY decorations set. Our Under The Sea Party decorations kit provides all you need to get preparations underway, including a festive party banner, party favor tags, water bottle labels, food table tent cards and lots more to create a sea-mless setup, brimming with bright, primary colors!

2) Browse Pinterest for Ideas

If you don’t already have a board on Pinterest filled with party planning ideas, you should really make one. Pinterest is a great way to collect up a series of ideas that match your birthday bash’s theme. Even better, most of the pins link to fantastic blog post tutorials with pictures you can follow. Here are a couple of our favorite clever food ideas for Under the Sea parties:

  • Serve snack foods, such as Gold Fish crackers and sea-themed gummy sweets, in little pails with shovels.
  • Whip up a beautiful ocean blue punch using only 1 gallon of Hawaiian Punch (if you can’t find blue punch, just throw in a few drops of food coloring), 2 litres of lemon lime soda and 46 ounces of pineapple juice. It’s just the right amount of sweet and incredibly refreshing when you’re out in the sun.

3) Always have a Contingency Plan

While it’s great to have a plan in place for your party, it’s equally important to have a backup plan. If you’re throwing your little one’s birthday bash outdoors, there’s always a possibility it might rain. Let’s face it: no parent wants to be trapped indoors with up to 20 energetic kiddos and no game plan.

Thankfully, most party activities are suitable for indoors or outside with a little thought. And the beauty of downloading a DIY Under the Sea Printables kit is that you can quickly and easily print two birthday banners and two sets of place cards, just in case you need to move the party zone at the last minute!

4) Make It Memorable

You want your little one’s birthday bash to be memorable. The best way to do that is to be creative. Embrace the Under the Sea theme and let the ocean inspire your party games. Mommy Blogger Sara from Dinner At The Zoo created an awesome and budget-friendly sand pit for her daughter’s mermaid party, using just a small wading pool (pictured above). To recreate this great idea, pick up some sand from your local home improvement store, then carefully bury treasures that any Little Mermaid would love (like plastic sea creatures, beaded necklaces and pirate’s gold) for your adventurers to find.

Another way to ensure that this ocean party stays afloat is to send guests home with sea-themed treat bags. Fill your favor bags with ocean inspired toys, including bubble blowers, chocolate coins and gummy sea creatures, along with a ‘thanks for coming’ note. Don’t forget to stick a matching label on every bag, especially if your favor bags aren’t gender neutral.

Keep these 4 party planning tips in mind and make a big splash with your Under The Sea celebration!

CELEBRATE | 4 Steps to an Un(bee)lievable Spring Bumblebee Party May 05, 2016 12:44

Spring has officially sprung, making it the best time of year to host sweet, seasonal themed birthday parties. Still looking for the perfect spring party idea for your little one? Why not host an un-bee-lievable bumblebee themed bash? This party theme is easy to prepare, unisex and adjustable to fit all age groups.

Not sure where to start? Don’t worry – we’ve got your covered with 4 simple steps to host an unforgettable bumblebee party!

Step 1: Invitations
Help your child write up a guest list for the big day. Once you’ve made a list, it’s time to prepare some fantastic bee themed invitations to get the excitement buzzing. A DIY editable invitation template is a quick and easy option. Have fun with it - don’t be afraid to get corny and ask your guests to ‘buzz on by’!

Step 2: Food/Catering
Need Bumblebee Party catering ideas? Fortunately most kids love sugar, which means even the most reluctant baker can please the hive with some simple sugar cookies drizzled with honey. But if you’re feeling more ambitious, why not try your hand at some awesome bumblebee cake pops? Alexandra from Enchanted Events & Designs has a super helpful tutorial to help you turn basic cake balls, lollipop sticks and yellow candy melts into bee-autiful bee cake pops.

Your little bees are going to want some nectar, too! You can create a sensationally sweet spring drink that kids and parents alike will adore by combining ginger, honey, lemon, water (or carbonated water) into a concoction that’ll really create a buzz. Check out the recipe here.

Don’t forget to print out some of your Bumblebee Water Labels and attach them to water bottles or cups (and even consider writing the names on each one so there are no mix-ups - especially if you want to turn these cute mocktails into cocktails for the grownups!)

(Gorgeous Bumblebee Pops from Cakes By Tali)

Step 3: Decorating
Welcome your guests to the hive with a theme-colored Happy Birthday Banner, then continue the fun by surrounding the area with black and yellow helium balloons. Don’t forget, bees love flowers, so a few floral additions (like sunflowers and daisies, real or plastic) will really add to the atmosphere.

With your Printable DIY Bumblebee Party Kit, you’ll have no shortage of bumblebee themed decorations to decorate with. Stick to your traditional black and yellow color scheme, then print out some of your favorite designs, cut them down to the correct size and plaster them all over the party zone. All the pieces in this kit are super versatile, so be creative – 2d cake toppers can easily be attached to a regular tablecloth to enhance the bee-day feel.

Complete the look with an adorable DIY beehive as either a table centerpiece or cute wall fixture.

Step 4: Party Games & Favors
After all that sweet party food, your little bees are going to be buzzing with energy. Keep with your party theme by modifying a game of tag. The person who is ‘It’ is now the Queen Bee and everyone else has to avoid being stung!

Once the party is drawing to a close, thank your guests by presenting them with a favor bag to take home, filled with honey-inspired treats. You can always use store-bought candy, but if you want something a little healthier, Sugar Free Kids has got you covered with these healthier honey crackles. Don’t forget to attach a Bumblebee Favor Tag to every bag!

And there you have it – our printable Bumblebee decor and a dash of creativity - you’ve officially planned the best bee-day party of the year!

Around the House | "Hey Y'all" Printable Wall Art Quote October 29, 2015 07:00 1 Comment

I'm a country girl at heart, not to mention a southern girl as well, so I'm quite familiar with the casual expression "hey y'all!" It's just something we say where I come from! Although I'm not living in the country anymore, I still say my fair share of "y'alls" and still hear it pretty regularly even around here. This expression is a sweet reminder of my childhood growing up in the country, so I just had to create a wall art printable from it! This design is hand-drawn and features a carefree, flowing style that to me, is totally representative of the expression itself.

Printable wall art is simple, affordable home decor and a unique gift idea. And you don't even have to be a crafter or DIY'er otherwise - you just need a printer and an inexpensive frame. You can literally change the look of a room in just a few minutes!

Please let me know what you think of this print and if you'd like to see more like it! :)

Around the house | New in shop: Little but Fierce Printable Nursery Art September 21, 2015 07:00

I have two girls, so naturally I was drawn to the Shakespeare quote "...though she be but little, she is fierce." Both of my girls have really big hearts and very sensitive souls, but they each also have a fierce side...in a good way! When it comes to working towards a much desired goal, participating in a competition or standing up for something they feel strongly about, they can be fierce!

So for my two girls, I decided to create a wall art printable of this quote. This print features a youthful, hand-lettered look on a background of pink paint strokes - a feminine touch with an "edge" to it which I think is very fitting! This is a cute quote for creating nursery art and would make a great gift for a mom you may know who has recently welcomed or will be welcoming a new baby girl...

Printable wall art is simple, quick and affordable home decor. And you don't even have to be a crafter or DIY'er to create something beautiful! All it requires is your home printer and an inexpensive frame. You can literally change the look of a room in just a few minutes!

Please comment below if you like this print and if you'd like to see more like it! :)

Around the House | Fall-themed Scripture Wall Art - Ecclesiastes 3:1 September 08, 2015 08:41

The kids are back in school and these remaining summer days are now consumed with classes, after-school activities and homework-filled evenings - which means fall is just around the corner. Although I am sad to see summer go, I must admit I enjoy the return of cool days, thoughts of our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and the beauty of the leaves changing colors on the trees! In honor of that upcoming season I have just added a new fall-themed scripture print to the shop featuring traditional fall colors of burgundy, gold and orange with falling leaves surrounding the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 3:1, in a pretty script font.

"For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven."

If you want to add a little touch of fall to your home or if you're looking for a unique, DIY gift idea, printable wall art is a quick, fun and affordable choice. You don't have to be the least bit crafty...simply print and frame! Consider an understated, basic black or brown frame for this Bible verse printable or maybe a thick, wood frame for a more rustic, "lodge" look. You can change the look of a room in no time at all with printable wall art! (See my entire collection here!)

Please let me know what you think of this new print and Happy September, y'all :)

Celebrate | New: Preppy Pumpkin Party Printables September 03, 2015 10:00

I am really, truly sad for summer to be over, but I still get excited for the fall season because I can pull out my autumn scented candles, enjoy being outside without all the bugs and most of all, I get really excited about visting the pumpkin patch with my kids! Obviously pumpkins are very symbolic of fall so they are a very popular theme choice for fall birthdays. And although the colors of fall are usually warm and earthy, I have always been drawn to a brighter, trendier color palette of orange, green and purple which is what I chose for my latest pumpkin party theme just added to the shop! If you're looking for fall birthday party ideas, this is a fun choice as it incorporates cute pumpkin graphics, bold patterns and a whimsical color palette that's very kid-friendly. It's available for instant download, like all of our party printables, which means you can actually create a party the same day you purchase it without ever leaving home - seriously convenient!

FREEBIE | Fun Printable Checklists for "School Nights" August 31, 2015 12:33

It never fails, it's almost August before I feel I'm really settled into our summer routine. Then all of a sudden, it's time for school to start again...and therefore time for an all new (seriously crazy) schedule to get used to! And of course, the kids are usually dreading this change since it means time to start going to bed early, getting up at the crack of dawn and of course homework-filled nights...so I guess that's a reasonable response! So my newest freebie is one that I hope might help them get off to a good start this school year...

...School Night checklists! One features a trendy chevron pattern in a pretty color scheme of pink, yellow, green and aqua. The other is in primary colors on a cute striped background. Both include a typical "kid to-do list" while also having space to add 3 additional items. Simply print and insert in either a sheet protector or place in a frame - either will create a surface for use with a dry-erase marker so the list can be used over and over again!

This list can help them get organized, feel prepared for the next day, rest easier at night and BEST of all, prevent chaotic mornings (is that even possible??) Simply click the image above and enter your email address and an email will be sent immediately to you with a download link! As always, if you like this freebie please comment below or send me an email to let me know - I'd love to hear from you! Wishing you a great 2015-2016 school year :)

This would make a great gift for a friend or loved one who needs a little encouragement or maybe that special teen you know that's getting ready to head off to college or start a new job! This is a beautiful way to give someone a little reassurance and show that you have confidence in them - so simply!

Celebrate | How to throw a Strawberry (Shortcake) Party...Simply August 13, 2015 13:36

If you were a kid in the 80s like myself, you'll most certainly recall that little redheaded cartoon character, Strawberry Shortcake. Believe it or not, she has remained extremely popular over the years and little girls still adore her - both the Strawberry Shortcake of today as well as her "vintage" character (I can't believe I used the word vintage to describe the time when I grew up...sad!) Anyway, if you're considering a strawberry themed party for your little fan, here are a few neat ideas that are really easy to do, even for the least "crafty" of us:

PARTY FOOD

Serve food that represents the Strawberry Shortcake characters:

- Strawberry Shortcakes

- Blueberry Muffins

- Raspberry Tarts

- Angel Cake (angel food cake)

THE CAKE

- A simple strawberry box cake with pink icing and tiny chocolate chips (to represent seeds), topped with a cluster of strawberries in the center - can't get simpler than this!

- Use a cupcake stand to display an assortment of pink/red and green iced cupcakes, decorated with printable cupcake toppers attached to toothpicks.

DECOR

- Strawberry balloons: draw/paint seed shapes on plain red balloons then top with leaf shapes cut from green construction paper. You could also cut the seed shapes out of plain white paper and glue them to the balloon with a glue stick.

- For table coverings, purchase inexpensive red, pink or green plastic tablecloths from your local dollar or general store.

- Choose solid red, pink or green napkins, plates and plastic utensils.

- Create plastic cutlery holders by painting or gluing seed shapes (just like the balloons above) on a solid red solo cup and tie a green bow around the very top brim of the cup.

- If you have any baskets around your home, you can dress them up with red, pink or green ribbons to hold food, favors, plates, etc.or even use one as a a table centerpiece.

- Hang a pennant banner, display welcome signs, decorate water bottles and more with strawberry party printables. Simply print, cut & assemble!

FAVORS

- Clear bags filled with any kind of strawberry flavored candy, topped with a printable "thank you" favor tag.

- Tiny favor baskets or containers found at the dollar or general store, each filled with a large chocolate covered strawberry (simply dip strawberries in melted candy-making chocolate.)

- Decorate large pre-packaged sugar cookies with pink or red icing and tiny chocolate chips to represent seeds. Wrap each cookie in a clear bag and tie with a green ribbon.

Please share in the comments below if you try any of these or if you have any other simple, but great strawberry DIY party ideas! Happy Strawberry Party Planning! :)

Around the House | Sandy toes and Salty Hair Printable Beach Wall Art August 10, 2015 10:00

Yes, I know it's already August and some of your kids have even returned to school, but it's still the summer season and I'm going to hang on to it till the bitter end (yes, I'm very bitter when it ends!) The way I see it, there's still plenty of warm weather left for a trip to the beach, even if just for a quick weekend getaway! For those of you along with me, savoring these remaining dog days of the season, I have recently added a new summer wall art printable to the shop just for you: a beach-inspired quote - "salty hair & sandy toes," hand-lettered on a sketched ocean blue and white background. I just love the salty air at the beach and the feel of sand between my toes, so this print is a great reminder for me of that happy place!

If you are looking to add an instant warm, summery touch to your home's decor, this is just the thing, and even better it's such a simple and affordable way to do it. You don't have to be the least bit crafty, just simply have access to a printer and an inexpensive, empty frame. Consider a white or distressed wood frame that would really complement this print and exude a true beachy vibe! You can literally change the look of a room in less than an hour with printable wall art...love it!

Please let me know what you think of this print and if you'd like to see more like it! Happy August everyone :)

FREEBIE | Printable Back to School Record August 07, 2015 10:15

I say it every year, but honestly this summer has flown by faster than ever - seriously, where the heck did it go? Back-to-school time has crept back around again (notice I use the word "crept," as if it's sneaky or something to be feared...) Ok I admit I'm not thrilled about it, mostly because it means summer is almost over (and you may have heard me mention how much I adore the summertime,) but mostly because I'll miss having the kiddos around so much and that crazy, busy school-homework-activities "hamster wheel" begins again....sigh. But what really, really gets me is the realization of how much the kids have changed in just one short, 365-day year...doesn't it just blow your mind when you look back at last year's "first day of school" pictures? And that's just their physical appearance. They change so much, so quickly in so many ways that it's almost scary. So, I've decided that capturing all the details of "who" they are today that I possibly can, is a much better way to spend my time than dreading the aspects of back-to-school that I'm not too thrilled about!

Click here to download this free, printable "Back-to-School Record!"

This brings me to my newest freebie that I have for you today...a "Back-to-School Record" that you simply print and complete with your child at the start of each new school year! You can record all those very important personal facts, like their favorite color and favorite tv show, along with a current photo and and even their handprint! And then next year, when it's time to print a new record, you can bring out the one from this year and compare (if you dare!) to see how much your babies have grown and changed so quickly. And maybe we will be reminded to savor each day with them, good days and bad alike. FREEBIE | July 4th Wall Art Printable June 29, 2015 09:54

The kids just got out of school and somehow the 4th of July is here already...how in the world did that happen? It always seems like the first few weeks of summer are a little crazy for us with two June birthdays (our "2 june bugs!") and working our way into a new summer routine. And when things look like they are finally starting to slow down, I sit down to take a breath and realize June is gone...wow! I just want to dig my heels in and make summer last as long as possible! I am just a summer kinda gal and I truly savor every day while it's here. And although I don't want to admit that we are already closing the book on June, I am still excited for the 4th of July and all the traditions that come along with it. Although the girls no longer let me buy them matching red, white and blue dresses (ha ha!), I still love putting together a patriotic outfit for myself for the day's festivities, going to a cookout and eating great barbecue, and of course, topping it all off with a huge fireworks display that we get to watch over the water from a friend's house. Simple, traditional, good old-fashioned fun!

In celebration of this happy summer holiday, I have designed a patriotic wall art printable to share with my email subscribers today! This would be so cute to print and display at your July 4th celebration this weekend or just to add a little patriotic decor to your home. Simply click below to sign up and get this free wall print....

TIP 1: This is truly an *instant*, easy and stylish way to decorate for the holiday. All you need is a simple, inexpensive frame that you can find for a few dollars in any of the "big box" stores or even most dollar/discount stores. A neat idea is to have a frame that you use for the holidays that you can place on your kitchen counter or entryway table and simply replace with the appropriate print for each holiday as it approaches. What a fun way to welcome guests into your home during the holidays or for your holiday parties!

TIP 2: You can also print this same file in a smaller size (using Adobe Reader) and use as flat note cards or little tags for your July 4th party favors or treat bags. You are only limited by your imagination!

Hope you enjoy this free printable! Please leave a comment below on how you plan to use it and even send pictures as I would love to see them and share your creative ideas on my blog! :) Happy July 4th! :)

Recipe Roundup | Iced Tea: the perfect summer beverage June 24, 2015 09:45

When I was growing up, iced tea was a "staple" beverage in our house, especially in the summertime. I can remember the bright orange tupperware pitcher that lived in our fridge that my mom kept filled daily. I can still vividly remember the aroma as we continually passed through the kitchen, heading outdoors to play and back in on summer days...simple, but oh so happy times! And just like the name of the first recipe in my list below, iced tea cannot be better described than "summer in a glass!" Now that summer is in full swing, check out this list of great iced tea recipes and give one a try. If you find a few that you like, be sure to download our free recipe card to collect those recipes. It's just not summer until that first pitcher of tea is in the fridge!

Enjoy this free printable recipe card for collecting your ice tea and other favorite beverage recipes!

Celebrate | All About Dad & Free Gift Guide Printable June 18, 2015 08:04

This weekend always, no matter what, gets the best of me because I have two kiddos with birthdays just before (and occasionally ON) Father's Day...yes two (and they are not twins!) Sadly I'm sure my hubby doesn't give his "daddy holiday" much thought anymore since we've spent so, so, so many Father's Day weekends consumed with little girl birthday parties surrounded by school friends, setting up water activities, grilling and making party food and hosting family members from out-of-town. So this year I decided I was going to make Father's Day more of a priority...and I am happy to report that I at least have his gift from the girls already...which is really good for me (and I do mean REALLY.)  I still have more details for the actual "celebration" that day to work out, and honestly I don't even know exactly where I'm headed even still, but in my quest for making Dad's Day special this year, here are some really neat things I've found so far that I just had to share!

1. Cute DIY goodie bags for Dad from Little Family Fun

2. Cool vintage soda collection gift idea from Oh Happy Day

3. Yummy steak with blue cheese sauce recipe from A Lady in France via Today's Work at Home Mom

4. Awesome grill-shaped Dad's Day cake from BuzzFeed

5. Beautiful cookies that are all about Dad from Lilaloa

Also want to share a freebie with you that I made to help me search for ideas and make plans! I created a "Dad Information Sheet" that I can store all of his important info and interests to use as a helpful "reference" when out-and-about shopping. Hope it's helpful to you too! :)

Celebrate | My Favorite Beach Ball Inspired Finds June 04, 2015 11:36

There are few things that make me happier than the beach...it is most definitely my "happy place!" And since I live a few hours away from the ocean, I sadly don't have the opportunity to frequent that blissful place very often. A close second on my happy list is SUMMER, and all things warm weather or water related! I absolutely adore this time of year with all the weekend outdoor activities including pool and beach parties. If you're planning one of these water-related celebrations this summer, consider the traditional but simple concept of the beach ball in your decor...nothing screams summer more than this fun, inflatable toy! Check out this handful of fabulous beach ball ideas I found to get you inspired as you plan:

1. beach ball garland from Studio DIY

2. beach ball fruit cookie from Hungry Happenings

3. beach ball cookie favors with 2 june bugs printable pool party circles/tags

4. beach ball cake pops from Bakerella

5. beach ball vase from The NapTime Reviewer
